To know and follow Christ, and to help others know and follow Christ

Advent/Christmas Opportunities

Advent/Christmas Volunteer Opportunities

Throughout the season as we anticipate God's home among us, we take note of ways we may help others.

  • Children's Outreach Donations due date extended to December 6!
  • Angel Tree Gifts Due by December 11!

Children's Mission Outreach

The Kids’ Mission Club, as part of TGIW activities, is collecting items for gift bags to give out to children and youth who attend the Christmas dinner and to children in FOCUS. Please help in gathering items. All items must fit in a medium gift bag and will hopefully be gender-neutral. Please bring items to the church by Tuesday, December 6—we are delaying the final date, as we are still short of items. The bags will be made up Wednesday, December 7. Questions? Call Pastor Allison at 363-2058. Thank you for your support. Suggested items: Gloves, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, small stuffed animals, developmental toys (stacking rings, blocks), crayons, coloring books, play-doh, books, card games, puzzles, gift cards to Target, Hy-Vee, or Wal-Mart.

Christmas Trees in Mission - Stop by our trees throughout St. Paul’s!

  • Christmas Card Tree - Share the Peace of Christ with all of your St. Paul’s family by bringing a signed Christmas card (with envelope) and placing it in the basket at the base of the Christmas card trees in the hallways.  Cards will be taken from the tree and sent to members who are homebound or in a care center.
  • Mitten Tree - Mittens or gloves, hats, and scarves will be given to preschoolers in the FOCUS Program at St.   Paul’s and to children and youth who attend the Christmas Day Dinner.  The “Mitten Tree” will be located in   the Parlor from November 21-December 18.
  • Angel Tree - Take an angel and become one!  This is an opportunity to share with those in need during  Christmas time, through an Angel Tree in the Parlor.   Donate gifts for children and families in the FOCUS Program at St. Paul's. Please take an Angel by December 4 - gifts are due back no later than Sunday, December 11!

Christmas Dinner

Christmas Day is a day of sharing with family and friends, yet for some this is not possible.  Free dinner is served at St. Paul’s from 1:00-3:00 pm.  Each family also will receive a poinsettia and bag of groceries.  Children will receive a special gift bag.  Volunteers and donations are needed.  The Adopt a Turkey and Adopt a Piglet programs will allow church members to purchase hams and turkeys to be served at the dinner.  Sign-up starting Sunday, November 27th.
If you know of anyone who would like to attend the Christmas Dinner or are shut-ins that would like dinner delivered to their home, please have them contact United Way (398-5381 or 211) after November 28th to make reservations.  Please do not call the church office to make reservations.
