Seekers |
Seekers class members share a
desire to understand and follow God's will as parents, spouses, and
members of the community. Most of the members are married and have
children ranging in age from preschool through college. Many Seekers
are active in other facets of church life, such as choirs, church
teams, and Pathways to Christ. The class organizes and helps staff
the annual Walk America refreshment stop.
Each class begins with announcements and sharing of joys and concerns. The class members take turns bringing a light snack, preparing coffee, and reading a devotion.
Studies are led by members of the class or others within St. Paul's. Topics are selected by class consensus and range in length from a few weeks to a few months. Subjects range from Bible and faith studies to family and relationship oriented topics.
Members volunteer for one year positions as class officer. These positions include facilitator's, treasurer, shepherding, curriculum committee, newsletter editor, social event coordinator, and Adult Council representative. The Seekers use a monthly newsletter and a telephone calling tree to communicate news to all members.
Monthly social activities vary between family events and adult events such as progressive dinners, picnics, Theater Cedar Rapids performances, and a Halloween hay ride. The Seekers class welcomes all who pursue spiritual growth to strengthen themselves, their marriage, and their family.
