Rev. Sherrie Ilg, Associate Pastor
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life. Ephesians 2:8 – 10
Hello,
As I’ve thought about life, to know of God’s amazing grace is truly the ultimate joy, isn’t it? When I consider all the ways that God is in constant relationship with us… in the ordinary moments, in our celebrations and in our struggles, I am so grateful. Our grateful response can simply become our way of life.
As I considered how God might be directing my way of life, I recognized my passion for all people to know of this amazing grace. Prior to sensing the call to serve as a pastor, my background in Family & Consumer Science and Secondary Education equipped me to work in adult education, sales, marketing and management through Iowa State University Extension, corporations and as an entrepreneur. My call to serve as pastor led me to study at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary where I’ve graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree.
My husband and I have three grown children. Being separated by many miles, our favorite times are times when we are all together. Growing up on a farm in Iowa, and living most of my life in this state, I’ve also grown up in the United Methodist Church. Most recently I served as part-time Associate Pastor at St. Mark’s UMC, Cedar Rapids after serving on staff at Shueyville UMC.
As part of the St. Paul’s family I look forward to getting to know you so that we might share our lives and stories of God’s grace…both as individuals and as a community of faith. With thanksgiving for God’s good creation, I look forward to discovering this way of life in Christ with you.
God’s grace and peace to you,
Pastor Sherrie
