Compass Sunday School
Compass Sunday School Class
Compass Sunday School class meets at 10:30 in Room 117. The average attendance is 45-50. The class, which started 48 years ago, begins each Sunday with an opening song. The weekly lessons are led by class members. After the lesson they take time for joys and concerns and class announcements before closing.
The studies generally run 8-12 weeks and come from a variety of resources. Recently the class had a study of the book “The Jesus I Never Knew”, by Philip Yancey. While the studies average 8+ weeks anyone is welcome at any time during the study. There is always good attendance and always an open chair (comfortable new ones too!). The member’s age range is 50-70. The class was started with married couples, but there now is a mixture of married, widowed/widowers and singles. The Compass class has also started a group called “Unos” which meets once a month and is composed of about 25 women who are either divorced or widowed. Outside activities for Compass Class include potlucks, either dine-outs (restaurants) or dine-ins (in homes), a once-a-year ice cream social, and a Christmas Party, which for the last few years has been held at Coe College. In the spring each year they have a progressive dinner, along with a Super Bowl gathering in January.
- Compass Class lessons beginning April 18th will be based on “When All Else Fails, Read the Instructions” by James Moore. The lessons are led by a different individual from the class each week.Compass meets at 10:30 AM in Room 117. Visitors are always welcome.
Come to room 117 on any Sunday and join the Compass Sunday School Class for great fellowship and meaningful study.
