Shalom Class

Shalom Sunday School Class

Shalom is an adult Sunday School class devoted to direct Bible study on a fairly deep level. The class meets year-round in Room 105 beginning at 10:20 AM. Our attendance is generally in the 10-20 range, with both couples and singles of any age. The only prerequisite is a desire to know one's Bible better and to hear and participate in discussions across a wide spectrum of beliefs. We try to look at various texts objectively, then offer interpretive options, and hopefully find meaningful applications in our own lives. We are beginning our 15th year, having begun in Jan. 1995.

Typical studies in this class include individual books of both Testaments, the Sermon on the Mount, and the Parables of Jesus. We are currently in the last third of a study of all the Old Testament prophets. We supplement Bible studies with duplicated survey outlines, timelines, and other study aids. Right now, we are discussing proverbs from the Old and New Testaments, especially from the book of Proverbs.

We have often met in members' homes for social times together, including an annual Christmas party. In the past, we have had such highlights as a field trip to Chicago to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, trips to the Tulip festival in Pella, and attending a Gaither concert at the Five Seasons Center. We are always happy to welcome new faces and new visions. Please visit and help us grow!
