Disaster Response

Disaster Response at St. Paul's

Because of the tragedy in Haiti, the supply of health kits at the UMCOR Depots is greatly depleted.   That is when the local church can move into action to fill the void and prepare for the next response to need in our country and world.   Through February 14, we will be accepting health kit supplies (or entire kits) for the UMCOR Depot at Sager Brown.   Supplies needed are:

  • 1 hand towel (15 x 25 up to 17 x 27, no kitchen towels)
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket size)
  • 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • 1 toothbrush (single brushed only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)
  • 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
  • Financial donations will also be welcomed to cover the costs of shipping and purchase of supplies.

Because the emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations and strict rules govern product entry into international countries, UMCOR requires that the kits contain only the requested items – nothing more.

More information on health kits and other kits from UMCOR available here.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church responds in a connectional manner to disaster through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. St. Paul's participates in Ingathering, and also responds throughout the year.
