Bishop Julius Trimble has recently launched a reading initiative called “Change a Child’s Story” to challenge Iowa United Methodists to donate one million children’s books and one million volunteer hours of reading to Iowa’s children, especially those in poverty. St. Paul’s began this work at Halloween where we distributed books to neighborhood children. We have developed a relationship with SPRINT and St. Paul’s Vacation Bible School to read to the children throughout the summer. During the school year, opportunities are available at Johnson STEAM Academy for volunteers to read to elementary aged children in the late morning and afternoon. Reading aloud to children can truly change their life forever. Contact Jim Milden at 364-4668 or Pastor Jonathan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
